Peer Review Process

Article Judging Process for Agricultural Economics (Maximum six months)

1- The authors submit their manuscript electronically to the Journal of Agricultural Economics as it is described on website of the Journal. Each author of a manuscript is required to submit a disclosure statement describing the originality of the manuscript. The form for the disclosure statement can be downloaded from the website of the Journal. Manuscripts submitted without the required disclosure form will be returned to the authors.
2- Papers are controlled by the Editor in Chief to be related to one of areas on the economics of agriculture and food, natural resources and the environment, and rural development.
3- Three reviewers for each paper are suggested to the Journal Editorial Board by the Editor in Chief and is send to the reviewers by Executive Secretary of the Journal after approved by the Editorial Board.
4- Papers are accepted for publication when two of the reviewers approved the manuscript.
5- Authors are allowed once to react to the referees’ suggestions and modify the manuscript accordingly. The accepted manuscript is the final draft of the manuscript which includes the modifications. The manuscript undergone typesetting and proof correction. 

6-      Processing the assessment fee (50 thousand Tomans) and sending the scanned receipt to the journal office will take one week’s time.  Please note, payments can only be made electronically through the Iranian Agricultural Economics Association website.

7-      The office of the journal will send the article to the appointed judges immediately upon viewing receipt of payment.

8-      The initial assessment of the article by the referees is maximum three months.

Note: If two referees have a difference in opinion, the article will be sent to a third referee for assessment.

Referees’ Response

** Confirming the article for publishing.

** Declining the article for publication.

** Accepting the article on the basis that the article will be revised.

9-      If an article is accepted on basis of revision, the article will be sent back to the writer so they can implement the changes the referees advised and resubmit the revised article to the journal (two weeks). If for any reason it takes longer than two weeks for the writer to resend their revised article, the article will no longer be considered for publication.

10-      The revised article will be sent for final assessment (one month).

Referee’s Response

** Confirming the article for publication.

** Declining the article for publication.

11-      The author will be notified if their article has been selected for publication in the final round of assessment.

12-   After an article has been accepted, it will be sent to the editors who will then edit the document. The author will be given an allotted timeframe to implement the changes of the editor. The time given will be based on the number of the pages (not including the English abstract) and the author must resubmit their revised article within that timeframe. Upon payment of the ten thousand Tomans publishing fee (by the author), the final edited article and the scanned payment receipt will be sent to the publishing company (one week).

11-   An acceptance letter will be sent to the author by the office of the journal.

Note: In case an article is not accepted in phase 6 and 8, a decline letter will be sent to the author. The status of submitted articles should only be followed up by authors.
